Prayer Walk Guide

Purpose: To pray for God’s blessing upon our community.

How beautiful on the mountains (in Plattsville) are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation.  Isaiah 52:7

Goal: To walk along and pray for every street in Plattsville before Easter Sunday!

Prayer Walking Tips:

  • Walk in groups of 2-4 rather than a large parade.
  • Pray in a quiet, conversational voice so that your prayer partner(s) can know what you are praying about and join with your prayer.
  • Don't call attention to yourselves.
  • If anyone asks what you are doing, respond: "We're praying God's blessing on this neighbourhood. Is there any special way we can pray for you?"
  • Although it is not the primary purpose of prayer walking, be open to opportunities to interact with and bless people where the opportunity presents itself.

What to Pray:

  • Give thanks to God for the blessings and gifts in the community.
  • Pray in the positive, not the negative.
  • Pray for discernment. Ask God to show you how to pray and be responsive to the ideas and imaginations He places in your mind.  Allow times of silence for God's Spirit to speak.
  • Pray that salvation comes to each home.
  • Pray that health and healing would rest on each dwelling.
  • Pray for blessing. Pray over every person, home, and business you encounter, asking God to bless and intervene. May His Kingdom come and His will be done in this community.
  • Pray for responsive hearts – that God would give people spiritual hunger
  •  Pray with empathy. See and feel what residents face every day, and offer intercession for those things that express brokenness and grieve God's Spirit.
  • Pray in God's power, ask confidently in Jesus' name to push back the darkness.
  • You may be led to stop and pray more intently in specific locations.
